This song preaches self-acceptance and celebration of things that make us different, which can be a hard concept to grasp in middle school when it feels like the easiest thing to do is conform to what is "cool" or "trendy." "Born This Way" is relevant to middle schoolers' lives because middle schoolers' are hyperaware of certain aspects of their identity at this stage in life, whether it is a positive or negative hyperawareness. The song is an anthem for self-love and self-acceptance. She lists a few different characteristics and says that none of these matter in regards to self-worth. Lady Gaga tells the audience in her lyrics that each person is beautiful in their own unique way, to "live their truth" and celebrate the things that make them different. Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" song is about loving yourself for who you are. To date, she has sold over eight million albums and 35 million singles digitally worldwide.
