![]() ![]() The only problem with this is that I don't know that Fing has an official API. You can kind of do that in Unifi but you have to know that you are looking for devices with Mac addresses that start with 00:0F:FF Fing also shows the Vendor name for devices, and you can sort (or filter) by vendor name, such as "Control4". So when I need to find what device in on a specific IP I will use Fing. But Fing knows about everything on the network. Unifi does know about all of my Wifi clients as they are all connected to Unifi APs. That way it could be hardware agnostic.Īlthough I do have a bunch of Unifi hardware, and a Unifi Controller, I agree.ĭespite having a USG as my router, Unifi is not very good at knowing what wired clients that you have on your LAN - unless they are connected to Unifi switches and/or are frequently hitting the internet (right now Unifi says that I have have 24 wired clients when I have at least twice that number - for example, it doesn't show my C4 matrix amps). I wish someone would write something similar for Fing. Need to get alerts when a network device falls offline? I've poured through the ER4's web UI (which is nearly impossible to use on mobile) and the UNMS app (which is great on mobile) but I haven't found a way to setup anything remotely as easy as the device specific on/off buttons we had with our old gear. With my old ASUS gear, my wife and I both had an app installed on our phones and we could open it, long press on the device we wanted to put on time out, and then tap disable (or enable when we wanted to turn it back on). We have a Roku connected via Ethernet and two tablets on WiFi that the kids use, all with static IP addresses. This combo has been so much more reliable than my old consumer WiFi gear, but one thing I miss is a super simple way to temporarily disable internet access for a specific device (or group of devices) on my network. I have an EdgeRouter 4 and a UniFi AC AP Pro. ![]()
